Why, when out for a stroll, elephants
Do not attempt greater elegance?
Their look is gray and baggy.

Elephants are big and slow, there are few advantages in being brightly colored.  They are simply drab – which in the world of animals usually means gray or brown.  This is Loxodonta africana – one of the species of African elephants. It can be distinguished from Asian elephants because it has much bigger ears.

And, while not as saggy
Similar colors dress the heron too
Although, a snob, it calls it blue.

This heron (Egretta novaehollandiae) is called the white faced heron, or white-fronted heron, or grey heron, or blue crane.  The color is referred to as blue or gray. They mostly feed near bodies of water and eat small animals, such as fish and amphibia.

Grey splotches on a grey tombstone:
Lichens: fungus and alga living as one.

It is questionable if ‘gray’ is the right term for these lichens.  Lichens are a composite organism, hyphae from fungi combine  with single-celled algae.  An inter-dependent relationship such as this is referred to as a symbiosis. Within that broad term, the more exact category is mutualism – because both alga and fungus benefit. The lichen is probably better described as a dull olive green, but becomes more gray when dried out.

A golden orb spider, last to note;
The web is golden, but not its coat.

And a gray bodied spider, but called the Golden Orb weaver (Nephila plumipes).   The female is large and gray, and the golden name comes from the color of the silk that makes the web.
